She still looks rather crabby, but I'm sure she is pleased to have clothes after so long without any.

Another Group Picture
Oops! Forgot the Group Picture!!! Sorry!!!
We celebrated our Thursday Morning Knitting Group's first birthday a week ago. I was blown away! Somehow, I had it in my busy little brain that we'd started our group last February, but several people had it in their purse calendars and I was wrong.
We met as usual, and then we all put away our knitting, went downstairs, and bought lunch (we meet at a local supermarket with a lovely upstairs messanine that overlooks a river) which we ate together. There were birthday cupcakes and sparkling cider to complete the festive occasion. Being a part of this group this past year has enriched my life and warmed my soul; I'm looking forward to many more happy years with this group.
Welcome, Knitters!
I made a Facebook page for our Thursday morning knitting group, but several (most!) of our members informed me that 1. they don't DO Facebook and 2. they don't WANT to do Facebook.
So I told them (calmly) that I would make a blog for them to look at. The only difference being that they will have to send pictures of their projects to me to post to the blog; I don't mind. Whatever floats their (knitted) boats is fine with me. I am used to folks not wanting to do FB, as my favorite cousin won't do it, either. I like Facebook, but I realize it's not popular with everyone.
So here we are, waiting for pictures of projects that have been finished by our group or other knitters, and I know there are a lot of them. Me? I'm working on a Fall Challenge for the KnittyHitty (or was it HittyGirls?) group. Thirteen of us (volunteers) were sent a small ball of very fine yarn (varigated, in fall colors) to use in an Autumn outfit for Hitty, who is a wooden doll 6.25" tall ( from the book Hitty, Her First Hundred Years by Rachel Field, winner of 1930 Newberry Award, given to the best new children's book of the previous year). I am miffed that none of my elementary school teachers or librarians bothered to recommend this book to me, and they didn't tell me about Laura Ingalls Wilder's books, either. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!?!?!?! I would have loved those books as a child, but ended up reading them as an adult, and loved them then, too.
So far, I have knitted a hooded capelet for Hitty, and used the remainder of the yarn to start the skirt of a dress for her. Can't have her wearing a hooded capelet and NOTHING else!!!!! I am using green yarn (some green, some brown) to finish the dress, this being yarn I have scavenged from thrift store sweaters I've bought and unraveled. I won't post a picture until the entire outfit is finished.
Our First Fall Storm of the 2010 season is due tomorrow in the PacNW; this will make for a very good day for knitting by a fire. I'll be working at our little art gallery in Hoquiam, which has a very nice fireplace which I'll have burning, in case any of the local knitters want to join me there.
