Three Tiny Sweaters for Hitty Auction for Oklahoma

Hi, sorry it's been so long since I've posted here. We had a death in the family in May and so things have been un-normal for my family and me for awhile. I have not even resumed going to our Thursday Morning Knitting Group, but one of my goals is to get back to that soon.

Here are two of the three little Surprise Sweaters I sent to Erin for the auction HittyGirls is having for Oklahoma. There are many Hitty items. I hope we make a lot of money to send to Moore, OK.

Yarn from Annette's Angora Goats

This is some yarn produced locally from Annette's angora goats. It is SO soft and beautiful. She knit a lacey scarf with it (in the picture, too) but it's hard to see the beautiful pattern in the photo.

I love the wonderfully soft yarn from the goats, rabbits, alpacas and llamas that many of my knitting friends have, but I don't want to keep the animals personally. I feel about the fiber animals as I do about cities: I like to visit but don't want to LIVE there.

Tammy's Sweater in Progress

     Tammy is a relatively new member of the Thursday Morning Knitters, but not in any way a new knitter. Here is Tammy's current project: a pretty striped sweater which is almost finished. Here is a close-up of the pattern:

 

    

      I love meeting with these knitters, and I have also come to love watching the Chehalis River as it flows close by. The big windows of Top Food's second floor give us, not only wonderful light to knit by, but  a lovely vantage point from which to view the river in all its many moods. It is very sad that in a town with 11 miles of waterfront within its city limits, Top Food's mezzanine area is the only place open to the public where people can watch the river from within four protective walls.

 

       October marks our anniversary month and we will celebrate our third birthday on October 18. On our birthday, we will celebrate by all of us buying our lunch downstairs, and eating together upstairs. We usually buy cupcakes for the group, too. I'm trying to think of additional ways we can thank Top Foods for providing a place for our knitting group, and other small groups as well, to meet. It is truly a wonderful facility and we feel very lucky to be able to meet there.

Two Christmas Sweaters

Here are the two sweaters that I finished a day late for our Late Christmas Celebration. I'd have had them done on time, BUT the pattern called for a 12" zipper for all sizes and I needed a 14" zipper for the smaller sweater and a 16" one for the larger one. Either it's a misprint, or the sweaters turned out larger for me. But they turned out the right sizes for the girls, so I'm not complaining.

This is the Keeping Fairy by Char-Lee of Raymond, WA. I was absoluteyly SMITTEN with this doll on Friday, but I am trying to tame my impulsive Inner Child, so I forced myself to wait until Sunday to buy her. I reasoned that if I was not MEANT to have her, she would not be there when I arrived to work. BUT SHE WAS THERE!! And so she is mine. Who can say why a person falls in love with a doll any more than you can explain why a certain person falls in love with another person?!

Here are the Keeping Fairy's hands, holding a key for me. In her pocket is a grocery list and some buttons on a string. She doesn't know it, but she's going on a trip tomorrow with me!

This a little pumpkin guy I bought for a friend, also made by Char-Lee. My friend likes pumpkin head dolls and this one was about as cute a one as I've ever seen!

Four Knitted Clothespin Santas

I am getting faster at making these, now being able to make two in an evening instead of one. It's hard to put a price on them, though. These four are going to the On Track Art Festival in Hoquiam tomorrow. We'll see if there are any "early bird" Christmas shoppers out there.
